SHRI MATAJI’S DESCRIPTION OF A GURU
“A Guru has to take the full responsibility of the well being & righteousness of the disciple, with the same intensity as the Mother.”
“Guru is the One who connects the disciple to Brahma Chaitanya. You cannot purchase him. If you buy a Guru, then he is your slave, he cannot be a Guru.”
“For a Guru, attention is peaceful like a lake, without ripples, reflecting the complete creation of Joy. Even a ‘Kataksh’ of such a person, can give realisation.”
In the word ‘GURU’.
Gu = highlights the attributes of Maya
Ru = destroys illusion caused by Maya
“Guru principle is within yourself & has to be nourished & retained. As the guru principle can come only after crossing area of creativity, the creativity is manifested and Guru creates out of ordinary persons, a dynamic personality.”
“When Guru principle is awakened, the Quality of Wisdom is born & as Guru principle revolves around Nabhi which is got from Mother, the True Guru has quality of MOTHER, and to expand Guru principle, we have to do Tapa.”
THE QUALITIES OF GURU
The True Guru is Sathwik, & a collective shelter of awakening & he can see the Supreme Goal. He is knower of Yantras & is adorned in the glory of attention and awareness. He is not exited or agitated and is completely fulfilled within and without. He is deep and profound and possesses mercy and compassion & he annihilates ignorance. He shines with discernment & knowledge and shines by his own light. He removes hypothetical pride & intoxicated frenzy, & puts to an end all silly arguments. He has no vasanas & conditioning & removes anxiety & pain. He is Muni & shows path of Yoga. He is simple, pure, clean, undecorated & unblemished. He is not false or deceptive & he is the One who gives, & takes nothing for himself. He gives external awakening & is auspicious. He enhances dharma & imparts knowledge of True enjoyment. He is like a tree laden with fruits. He is also like a blind man (for whom it is immaterial whether it is darkness or light he is in perfect bliss, joy & is unaffected by happiness or sorrow i.e. ‘sama drishti’). He allows the disciple to grow & does not curtail them.

3. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TRUE GURU IS HARMED

“Those disciples who cause mental agony & wound the feelings of Guru, who had taught them the Pranava Mantra itself, will be born as a dog for a 100 births & then as an out caste & perish.

4. DON’T TELL LIES BEFORE TRUE GURU

“If in the presence of True Guru, who has revealed the greatest Truth, lies are uttered, then, blessings and Jnana obtained earlier will depart, & all dharma will be forgotten & spiritual ascent will not be there & poverty will strike.”

DON’T TELL LIES TO MOTHER
SHRI MATAJI , “One should not tell lies to ME. You must not tell lies to each other. Cultivate love & not competition. Because you have entered the Kingdom of God Almighty. You must remember the laws which are applied here. There we cannot tell lies, nor misappropriate funds nor dominate others by existing power. If you leave these three evils, then all the blessings of Sahaja Yoga are upon you.”

“A blind man has a stick to guide his movement. He surrenders this stick to another blind man & without the stick leads the other blind man. The effect of this is that he will fall into a way side ditch & the other blind man will also follow & fall into the ditch.”

“You have only to look at the tired and blank faces of the followers of false Guru’s to know that the light of their Spirit has been blown out and something horrible & destruction has taken its place”.
“Another aspect where Sahaja Yogi’s get caught up is worshipping wrong Guru. This is very dangerous, anytime the Guru can enter your being, whatever he might have done you must sincerely try to wash him off your being & cleanse yourself. There is nothing to mind or feel disheartened, one must not nourish wrong concepts in this regard. Even if a small bit of it is left unattended, it keeps on growing & goes out of hand & becomes like a big tree. Even if a little bit of it is left within, be sure that your vibration will disappear Even the subtlest of things affects the inner self, One must be aware of it all the time.”
6. YOU ARE YOUR OWN GURU

“You are your own friend & enemy too. The good and bad karmas are due to good and bad acts done by you. The fruits of your Karma’s is experienced by you. Further you are your own Guru and leader.”

SHRI MATAJI, “Your responsibility as Sahaja Yogis is very great, because in you there is the Guru. In our mantras, we say “Mother, I am my own guru”. But between this “I” and “my Guru” , what have we achieved? Where am I? Can I guide myself? Have I got the light of the spirit on my attention so well established & manifested that I can guide myself & guide others later on? In the Guru principle, it is important that you see to yourself - introspection. Have I become my own guru?”
